I visited Washington, D.C.!

Last week, I went to Washington, D.C., with my Mom and Dad. We visited museums and walked around a lot to look at all of the monuments.

I got a “Junior Ranger Badge” from the National Park Service for finishing an activity book that asked lots of questions about the monuments.

My family and I went to Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, W.Va.

Last weekend, my family and I took a trip to Wheeling, W.Va., to spend Labor Day at the Oglebay Resort. We met Grandpa and Grandma Wehner, and my Uncle Patrick and Aunt Dana there.

I went to the beach again this summer!

We took another family trip to the beach! This summer, we went with our friends the Carrigers to Holden Beach, N.C.

I graduated from kindergarten!

Today was my last day of kindergarten at Piedmont Elementary School here in Charleston!

We had a very cool graduation ceremony at school, with music and snacks. Later that evening, me and Mom and Dad went to Chili’s to celebrate, and Dawn and Greg came along.

Grandma Laura moved to Charleston!

Over the weekend, Grandma Laura moved to Charleston! She bought a nice house not too far from where I live, and we’re going to be able to spend lots more time together!

Blossom Deli to close? Say it ain’t so!

This morning’s version of my Dad’s newspaper, The Charleston Gazette, had some news that made me very sad: The Blossom Deli is closing!

I’ve been going to the Blossom for lunch since I was still in Mom’s tummy … In fact, Mom and Dad went there on their very first date, back on June 22, 1998.

When Mom was pregnant with me, she used to get her take-out lunch at The Blossom almost every day … and Mom and Dad went there for lunch the day before I was born, on Dec. 18, 2004, for kind of a last lunch before I took over their lives.

Since then, we’ve gone to The Blossom for a family lunch almost every Saturday … the folks there always make me feel special. They bring me a bowl of strawberries or grapes or whatever nice fruit they have around, and always make a fuss over me and ask about what books I’m reading or my swim class or my adventures in pre-school and kindergarten.

When Miss Nancy or Mr. Joey or Miss Caroline come to our table, all I have to do is ask for “my usual” and they bring me a grilled cheese, a couple strips of bacon on the side and no pickle. And they know that Mom wants me to share some of Dad’s chips so that neither of us eats too many of them.

The paper said Saturday is The Blossom’s last day … we’ve already got plans that involve missing a rare family lunch. So we may have been to The Blossom for the last time as a family … I’ll miss all my friends and I wish them all well. Thanks for everything, guys!

I went to the beach!

Last week, Mom and Dad took me for my first trip to the beach, and we had tons and tons of fun.

We met our friends the Carrigers in Kure Beach, N.C., and spent a few days in a house right on the beach.

We made stuff in the sand, I rode a “boogie board“, and we also visited the nearby North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.

Also, we watched lots and lots of pelicans feed every morning and we saw a double rainbow one day.
